I read one profile that was written on KOMPAS few days back, she is the same age like me (born a year earlier), but she already become one of director at five-star hotel in Jakarta, and just got an offer for relocation to Dubai.

It strikes me hard. What a different life we have made. She did not succeeded the national examination to enter a state university back then, she intended to re-do the exam on the following year, and decided to take a part time job at boutique to fill the time and make the living. She then climbed up the ladder from there, earlier and steeper one I should say. She seems had struggled hard, opportunity grabber, but always sure to what she want.

While for me, life seems has gone quite smoothly as far as people can see it. Graduated high school and directly enrolled at the state university, best faculty known at that moment, and then graduated again with good marks. Working for a while, took the first job offer I got, applied for the scholarship when I got bore with the work, and again succeeded to achieve it. Conducting my study well, graduated again with satisfying marks, and then later returned back to my former office, which I was also later quit.

Finally look at how different we are now. She is one of the top executive abroad, and I am back to zero now, with no jobs on hand and still not move anywhere closer to my dream.

All my life I’ve been clueless and usually grab any opportunity persisted and just follows the flow as t is. People say opportunities never knock twice, but they forget to mention that some opportunities could lead you further away from your dream. It tempted you to choose another direction, which at that point seems more exciting to pursue, and fool ourselves by saying: dream can wait, opportunity never knock twice, and everything happen for a reason.

Now I realize that dream can wait as long as we postpone it, but once we decided to pursue sometimes the delay has caused it grew so distant that we should put extra to any effort we make. I believe everybody has different path of life toward their dream achievement, and I am sure that whatever I had done would be a great value for whoever I would be in the future. I want to live my dream, and I am in the process of getting it now. I just need extra effort and patience to make it true.
